This is my new scrappy rag quilt purse.
1. What do you think of it? (be honest)
2. So you think it is too shallow? It is 13"x7"x4" and the straps have a 15" drop.
3. Should I add a closure? if so what type? (For some reason I cannot decide what to do with it)

Hey! First off, I think your stuff is really great. I don't think that your bag is too shallow- I like how it looks longish- but yes, I think it should have some sort of closure, because once it's loaded with stuff, since it's long, it's gonna kinda bow out. Perhaps a flap that clasps?
Either way, it is beautiful :)

I find it hard to but a loop with a button on the four square but a snap or velcro will work. You beat me the scarppy totes. I had planned on doing one myself to see how it would work.
I love the look of the tote. I don't think it is too shallow and yes you do need a closure.
I love all the comments. If you put velcro (like 1"x2") on each block (2 pcs) it would give great security to contents. If you made it deeper, it would be the most fun market tote on the block. So many options!
I love the scrappy look! It is such a "green" thing to do to use up scraps. Yes, some sort of closure and I like the velcro idea in two places.
You know me I love scraps. My favorite fabric to work with. lol I think the tote is great but yes it needs a closer. Velcro like Shannon said would work real easy. Keep up the good work. Trish
So I am going to break from the crowd here and say that I think you could do a button and loop. I like big buttons on raggy bags and would probably do a large button and a wider loop out of any of the scrappy fabrics. But I hate velcro and try to avoid it. Even when I do velcro I usually put a button on the outside for style. That's just me I guess.
I really want to do a scrappy bag now to! Cute cute.
Oh, I love that bag! I have never personally tried to make one, and want to! Yep, I agree - no velcro for me. I love the idea of a vintage big button with a loop - would really add to the flavor!! Cute, cute, cute!!
Love it!! looks like a lot of work though!
Wow! Thanks for all the responses. I have had some thoughts about all the suggestions offered. It also occurred to me that a zippered closure would be cute too. But I am not good at putting zippers in. (need to practice those)
However, after giving it a lot of thought I am going to put 2 loops and buttons....one on each of sections. It is hard just using one with the seam in the middle, but there are some cute bags out there with 2 straps so that is what I will do.
Will update it soon....thanks!
